Privacy Policy

1. What We Collect

Pennyscope collects the minimum data needed to provide the expense tracking service:

  • Expense data: Amounts, categories, notes, and dates that you manually enter
  • Account information: Email address (when you sign in via Cashew Crate auth)
  • Preferences: App settings stored in your browser's localStorage

2. What We Do NOT Collect

  • Bank account credentials or numbers
  • Credit card numbers (payments are handled by Polar)
  • Social security numbers or government IDs
  • Location data
  • Contacts, photos, or other device data

3. How Data is Stored

Local storage: Your expense data is always stored in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device unless you sign in.

Server storage: When signed in, expenses are synced to our secure Supabase database for cross-device access. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest. Only you and our server-side service can access your data.

4. Third-Party Services

  • Supabase: Database hosting for synced expense data
  • Polar: Payment processing for subscriptions
  • Google AdSense: Advertising shown to free users (only with cookie consent)
  • Cloudflare: CDN and hosting

5. Cookies

We use cookies for authentication (session cookies) and, with your consent, for advertising (Google AdSense). You can accept or reject advertising cookies via the cookie consent banner. Your choice is stored in localStorage.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your expense data with third parties. Your financial data is yours alone.

7. Data Deletion

You can delete individual expenses at any time. To delete all your data, contact us at support@cashewcrate.com and we will remove your account and all associated data from our servers.

8. Children's Privacy

Pennyscope is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date.
